  3.      and distribute it or give it away.  There are 4 "shareware" programs:

  5.          1)  "Poker Challenge 7 Card Stud Version":  a game of real
  6.              poker with 1-7 computer opponents.
  7.          2)  "Poker Challenge Texas Hold'em Version":  a game of real
  8.              poker with 1-9 computer opponents.
  9.          3)  "Vegas Pro Video Poker":  a game like the video poker
  10.              (five-card draw) machines in Las Vegas Casinos.
  11.          4)  "3-Card Omaha Hold'em Hand/Game Analyzer": a program that helps
  12.              analyze any possible situation of 3-hole-card Omaha Hold'em.

  14.              (NOTE:  "3-Card Omaha Hold'em Hand/Game Analyzer" is different
  15.                      from the "Omaha Hand/Game Analyzer," which analyzes
  16.                      Omaha in the 4-hole-card form and is NOT SHAREWARE.)

  45.      THE MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE "MASTERY OF POKER" SERIES:

  47.      QUESTION:  DO 7 CARD STUD AND TEXAS HOLD'EM, THE GAMES, REALLY PLAY
  48.      POKER?  Yes.  The games do include many tools for players who study
  49.      poker.  But the primary purpose of the game programs is to play
  50.      poker.  A beginner, or anyone playing for entertainment, can simply
  51.      ignore the tools.  In Stud, you play against 1 to 7 computer oppo-
  52.      nents, called "AutoPlayers."  In Hold'em, you play against 1 to 9
  53.      AutoPlayers.  The AutoPlayers simulate the play of human beings.
  54.      You will recognize distinctly different playing styles in the Auto-
  55.      Players.  And you can change their styles!
  56.  
  57.      QUESTION:  ARE THE GAMES JUST KIDDIE GAMES?  Absolutely not.  Until
  58.      we started advertising nationally, almost all of our poker-software
  59.      customers were serious poker players from the casinos of Nevada and
  60.      the cardrooms of California.  About 60% of them stated either that
  61.      they play professionally or that they play twice a week or more
  62.      with profit.  Unless you make every AutoPlayer a "fish" (with the
  63.      lowest skill settings), you will have to play strong poker to win.

  65.      QUESTION:  IS THE GAME THE SAME EVERY TIME?  No.  Everything is
  66.      changeable.  For example, you can change the ante, the betting
  67.      limits, the maximum number of raises, who has to open the betting.
  68.      You can rake the pot a set amount each hand or each half hour as
  69.      cardrooms do.  You can change any or all of 7 skill settings for
  70.      each AutoPlayer.  The 7 skills are Tightness of play, Math ability,
  71.      Betting aggressiveness, Bluffing, Coolness under pressure, Alert-
  72.      ness, and the Ability to "read" opponents.  Since each skill may be
  73.      set 0 to 4, the possible combinations of skill settings for any one
  74.      AutoPlayer are 4 to the 7th power, or 16,384.  You can also set
  75.      what kinds of hands each AutoPlayer tends to "stay with" at each
  76.      round of betting.  Even if you never make any changes yourself, the
  77.      game is never the same because the cards fall differently and the
  78.      AutoPlayers simulate the unpredictability of live players.

  80.      QUESTION:  ARE THE CARDS REPRESENTED ON SCREEN?  Yes, all up cards
  81.      are drawn on screen, showing their ranks and suits.  The face-down
  82.      cards of your opponents are drawn on screen too.  Folded cards
  83.      are removed from the table (screen).  After the bet, the down
  84.      cards are turned up, and if you so choose, the folded cards are
  85.      revealed.  In addition, information pertinent to the game is shown
  86.      on screen, for example:  the players' stakes, the bet to you, the
  87.      bet limit, the name of the opener or last raiser, the pot.  When it
  88.      is your turn to bet, a rectangular section of the screen near your
  89.      cards lights up, tells you the bet to you, and waits for your bet.

  91.      QUESTION:  WHAT ARE THE HAND/GAME ANALYZERS?  There are two
  92.      "Analyzers," one for Stud and one for Texas Hold'em.  The Analyzers
  93.      do not play games.  An Analyzer lets you create any possible situa-
  94.      tion of cards.  Then the Analyzer compiles statistics on your
  95.      chances of winning, your opponents' chances, the kinds and numbers
  96.      of hands (straights, pairs, etc) that result from the situation, et
  97.      cetera.  Serious players use the Analyzers to answer questions
  98.      about poker that are too complex for math or "card sense."

  100.      QUESTION:  WILL THE PROGRAMS RUN ON MY COMPUTER?  Yes, if it can
  101.      run this program okay, or it meets the following requirements:
  102.      It is an IBM or compatible computer.  Its operating system is
  103.      PC-DOS or MS-DOS 2.00 or later (including OS/2).  It has 192K of
  104.      free RAM (memory).  It has a 5 1/4" disk drive.  It has any monitor.
  105.      No special graphics card is required.  NOTE:  Special versions of
  106.      the programs are available for computers with only 128k RAM total;
  107.      and 3 1/2" disks are available.

  109.                          PLAYING FOR FUN & SKILL

  111.      Playing for Fun:  Beginners or experts can play 7 Card Stud or Texas
  112.      Hold'em just for fun.  A poker table, dealt cards, and live-poker
  113.      action are all on screen.  Your computer opponents have individual
  114.      playing styles.  You'll have to play for real to come out a winner!

  116.      Playing for Skill:  To win at poker, you need two things:  practice
  117.      and knowledge.  Now you can easily use your computer to get both!
  118.      The programs were originally designed for professional poker players.

  120.      7 CARD STUD, the Game

  122.      Play 7 Card Stud against 1 to 7 other players (computer "AutoPlay-
  123.      ers").  Set their skills from beginner to expert, then play real
  124.      poker against them.  The AutoPlayers bet, raise, fold--and even
  125.      bluff--automatically!  The computer keeps track of winning hands,
  126.      stays on cards 3 thru 6, final bets, types of winning hands, wins
  127.      per hour, etc.  See a complete report for each player.  Set up the
  128.      game for casino play or a private game.  Set the betting limits,
  129.      antes, maximum raises, players' stakes, etc.  Play to improve your

  134.      Play Hold'em against 1 to 9 computer "AutoPlayers."  The rules are
  135.      different, but the game's computer features are like 7 Card Stud's.

  140.      Answer poker questions once and for all.  Choose any of the cards in
